Map

Heritage at Play has been all about moving around and exploring the role of the GAA in Ireland. So we created a map to keep track of the places we’ve been, the counties that have shown up in our coverage, and the topics we blogged. Explore the map to find videos and links by location.

  1. Climb Croagh Patrick & say a Hail Mary at Our Lady of Knock Shrine. Both in County Mayo. A visit to Ireland would not be complete without delving a little into the rich religious heritage of its people. In other words “Heritage at Play and Prayer”. God knows we have prayed many a Rosary down through the centuries on bended knee. You both are doing an an amazing job. Something I have only dreamt of doing. Some day please God I will trace your steps. God Speed.

  2. @Mick – We wish we had time! Mayo would have been outstanding! And the religious aspects of Ireland will be an incredible addition to the project, while also overwhelming us with new exciting complexities. In Dublin, the religious culture was somewhat hidden under the bustle of a modern city, but older women would cross themselves when a bus passed a church. Out of the city, there were vivid shrines and roadside statues. All incredible!
